Positive Pressure Conveying - Overview

With a vacuum conveying system the product is mixed with the air down-stream of the blower, the product is then removed from the air stream using filtration or a cyclone at the point of delivery, the filtered air then enters the blower. So the conveying is done on the negative pressure or vacuum side of the blower.

With positive pressure conveying systems the product is mixed with the conveying air up-stream of the blower usually using a rotary valve. The product and the conveying air are then separated at the point of delivery using a filtration system or cyclone.

Positive pressure conveying systems are usually used in higher throughput applications and can easily achieve throughputs of up to 100,000 kg/hr compared to vacuum conveying systems which are not normally used for throughputs of over 3000 kg/hr.

Pelletron designs and manufactures a range of conveying systems suitable for transporting both granular materials and powders for the plastics, food, chemical, and pharmaceutical industries. They also supply a range of components for use within existing conveying systems including:

Rotary valves

Diverter valves

Wear resistant bends
